Churches together youth Leaders meeting Fareham

Minutes of meeting held 18^th November 2003 7.30pm

Present: Steve, Rev'd Frank Wright, Thunder the Dog (HTC, SC), Dan , Peter , Cogy (Comm Ch), Sue (URC) Geoff Collins, Lin, Alisha & Alex (St Johns),
Hugh  (Fareham Baptist)

Peter opened in prayer.

Saturday Night Special SNS feed back:
Concern about teenagers leaving leisure centre then returning. We are responsible for the teenagers during the evening.
Action: Have 2 adults  (Male & Female) in reception, so as one adult can stand outside with no more than 5 teenagers at one time. Maximum of 5 minutes outside per group.

No centre staff were in the roller blade area at start to assist & music was not set up.
Action: Make sure centre staff are aware of this.

Pippa & Cogy had to wait until 11pm! for some teenagers to be picked up.
Action: Geoff to have a word with his group. Teenagers should be picked up at 10pm please.

Cogy, Peter and Sue to type up guide lines for new adult helpers.

Spiritual input to Saturday night special SNS:
There was a long discussion about what spiritual input we should have, Prayer area, meditation area, and 5 minutes slot for every one at end of evening. The two teenagers Alisha & Alex who attended meeting felt that Saturday night special was a stepping stone for outreach to their friends, & it was felt that it was best to keep Saturday night special like this.
The last SNS in April we would have a Christian band to give a concert like last year.

(1^st May Bank holiday)
Peter had had a word with the Council & other organisations for a community project but nothing has been forth coming. We still continue to look. The council is happy to donate £2000 to a project and we still have £2000 from painting the subway earlier this year.

We must decide by our January meeting what project we will be undertaking. Month of May might only be a start to a bigger project.

Some ideas were Sculpture Park, Cams play area.

Action: It was felt that we would get our youth groups to pray about this and we would also ask the adults to do the same.
Cogy to ask Paul O'Burne if he has any ideas.
We need ideas from the teenagers.

Soul in the City:
Camping in London in tent city. During the morning there will be Christian teaching, Afternoon the teenagers will help with a community project and meeting locals. Evening big worship event with different Christian bands. Each leader should have details and booking forms.

The council now has a text number for any vanadium or things which need doing in Fareham 07876131415.

A lot of Christian teenagers feel isolated. We do have a few events in Fareham which we get a lot of Christian teenagers along to i.e. Saturday night special,
'Life' last Sunday of the month at Fareham Community Church 7.30pm to 9.30pm Youth worship. We also hope to take a large group to 'Soul in the City' last week in July.


Peter is on the 'Fareham Youth Strategy

Cogy advertised 'Youth Worker' magazine, he has a lot of back issues useful recourse.

Dan mentions about a new Fareham magazine 'Intro' written for youth by youth.

Cogy celebrated his 30^th Christian birthday today
